Poetry: the language of the soul
At MyArt1958, poetry isn't just an addition; it's an integral part of the creative journey. Each poem is crafted to forge a personal connection, offering a deeper understanding of the artwork it accompanies. Discover how words and visuals intertwine to tell your unique story.

Feeling and understanding through verse
My poetry aims to evoke a profound personal connection between the words and the accompanying artwork. I want you to feel a sense of understanding, a recognition of shared human experience. It's about bridging the gap between what you see and what you feel, creating a truly immersive artistic journey.

Where inspiration takes flight
My inspiration for poetry is deeply rooted in life itself – from the joys and challenges of personal experiences to the wonders of travel, the bonds of family, and the profound beauty found in both artworks and photographs. Each poem is a reflection of these moments, transforming them into a narrative that speaks to the heart.

Enhancing the artistic journey
Including a poem with each artwork is crucial. It creates a powerful link between what the eye sees and what the mind perceives, and vice-versa. This synergy deepens your experience, allowing for a richer, more meaningful engagement with each piece. It's about seeing beyond the image and feeling the story it tells.

Refinding My Moral Integrity

I stand inside the colours
of my own becoming,
where the reds of reckoning
meet the blues of calm return,
and the yellow of new truth
pushes gently through the dark.
The figure I paint is me,
but also the man I am learning to be—
steadier, clearer,
no longer turning away
from the compass I once ignored.
In my hands,
the circle glows again.
Four quiet words—
ethics, values, integrity, respect—
rise like coordinates
on a map I had forgotten how to read.
Around me,
the arcs of balance curve and hold,
reminding me that light and shadow
are not enemies
but partners in the work
of becoming whole.
And so I step forward,
one honest breath at a time,
re‑aligning the inner needle
toward the person
I choose to be today—
and again tomorrow.
